RC enthusiasts out there, you don't have to fret too much when the off road tracks are rain soaked, or if work or school is keeping you stuck indoors. Traxxas made another breakthrough after they made the first RC offroad racing gaming app in their latest "Traxxas Shortcourse Showdown". Now available on App Store and Install0us (for jailbreakers). Go download yours now!
Total irony to the norm when Electric and Nitro RC hobbyists each kept to their own side and scale of turf. Today I saw Hpi Blitzes, Team Associated SC10s and some unidentifiable 1/10 scale 4wd buggy on the 1/8 Nitro buggy course at Segar Road.
I might seek some MP's help on this... Now that I'm a resident there.
I just heard Miss Singapore Universe winner, Valerie Lim on Radio91.3's "Married Men" show. Upon her uttering her first words, Dad and I unanimously said "TRANNY!"
If you fancy seeing comic-type girls in bras and panties, "Top Girl" game app is the one for you. It's FREE, plus if you're on Skout, you get points for this too!

This engine has a top rev band of 38,000 rpm. You can really hear the difference from stock 28,000rpm engines as it hits all the high notes.
Due to the rich oil setting, it sure takes a while to get moving. But once it does... it's bloody fast.
Http://hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. Henglong Electronics Corp of China, a large producer of RC cars and tanks released their "Aluminium Edition" of the ever-popular Tamiya TT01. Many hop ups come as standard feature on this bastardization. Do observe the pictures that follow:
Kit comes with a Nissan Skyline GTR body. The body mounts are a centimeter forward than what it should be, and that causes the wheel arches to catch the tyres on full lock turning. I'm done some body adjustments with curved scissors to rectify this.
Aluminium threaded oil-filled shocks and AM Digital Proportional Controller that seems to be a copy of the Hitec Aggressor SRX
Hardened steel pinion and spur gear. Will need some breaking in to get a better roll. 400-size 3000kv Brushless motor.
Another view of the suspension and transmission assembly.
5mm thick stainless centre drive shaft. I doubt this will ever break! You can also see the 40A Brushless ESC here. It supports 6-9 cell Nicd or NiMHs, or 2-3 cell Lipo packs.
All this while, I've been wondering if I was using the wrong blend of flux and resin in my solder or my soldering iron wasn't powerful because the solder wasn't melting or it'd damage the insulation before the solder could melt.
Then I discovered the mistake that 90% of hobbyists make: failing to tin the soldering tip.
A properly tinned soldering tip conducts heat more effectively. Even a 40w iron that's properly tinned can melt solder molten within a second of contact. That's right, you do not need expensive 200w or 300w irons to solder properly.
It also helps to have a wet sponge nearby to clean off excess flux and to keep to tip a shiny silver.
After 2 hours of fiddling, I finally picked up the right technique to solder.

http://hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. Hey everyone, here's a simple tutorial and orientation for all those new to using a Starter Box for Nitro Cars. In the making of this video, I used the Twin-775 Motor Lipo-Ready Starter Box for 1/8 and 1/10 cars by BSD Racing - but all those starter boxes out there are more or less the same.
In this video, I'll be showing you how to configure your battery setups and wiring, some tips I have in holding Lipo Packs in place, and briefly on adjusting the mounting for various car sizes.
I hope you find this video helpful, and if so, do check out my blog for more RC tips and reviews. http://hpisavagex46.wordpress.com
Http://Hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. Here's an AcePow battery pack that gone bust.
Is that some micro circuitry beneath the yellow tape?
One pack's bloated, while the other is still thin and flat. Within the hard case, they are held together with double-sided tape.
Another perspective shot of the bloated Lipo cell
I think the Lipo cell had an internal explosion. That bloating is apparently gas. It happened spontaneously with an audible "pop". This happened when I was trying to restore a low voltage cell to a chargeable voltage. Unfortunately, the cell must have been discharged too far. Even my attempts to refrigerate the cell after each hour of charge, it was not enough to help. As the cell exploded, one side of the hard case popped off.
AcePow 3200mah 20C 7.4v 2S Lipo. Perhaps a higher C-rating pack wouldn't bloat or explode like this. Thankfully, it was well contained in a Lipo Charge Bag which was specially designed to safely contain Lipo failure.

Mom: When did you get this engaged in the RC hobby?
Me: When I decided tennis got downgraded to 'work', something else had to become 'hobby'.
If work and play were the same thing, it'd be pretty boring.
http://hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. Here's my no-BS review of the BSD / Redcat Racing cars' optional upgrades. If you happen to get hold of a car or truck by BSD / Redcat Racng, congratulations, as you've just picked up one of the fastest machines around. In this video, I'm gonna show you which upgrades work, which ones are a waste of money, and some additional tips to make your car run better and last through bashing better.
The tips here apply to all the BSD Racing 1/8 Scale Cars, i.e. the Land Ripper, the BS809T, the BS807T, the BS802T, the BS808T, etc, the Redcat Backdraft 3.5, 8E, Aftershock 8E, 3.5, Earthquake 8E, 3.5.
Being an importer of these cars to my country, I have the privilege of thoroughly testing them in stock form, as well as with the full set of option parts. I must say, more expensive doesn't necessarily better. Don't just rush out and get every single upgrade out there - as in some cases, the stock settings may be better. If you deck them out correctly, they'll serve you very well and even win you some races here and there.
Some of the upgrades I covered in this video include:
- Aluminium Shock Tower
- Revised A-Arm Design for BSD Land Ripper 2
- Axle Extenders
- Anodized Steering Knuckles
- Steering Hub / Chassis Screws
- Steel Spur Gear
- BSD / Redcat Front Chassis Modification
- Steering Servo Upgrade
- Lipo Battery Configuration
- Loose Receiver Box Problem
- Monster Truck Wheels
- Truggy conversion for BSD / Redcat Racing
I also referenced the two websites for getting better screws:
www.RCScrewZ.com
www.Racers-Edge.com
I hope you find this video useful. Do drop me a comment if it helped you out. If you have any questions on BSD or Redcat cars, feel free to ask me anything as well.
Peace out!

http://hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. I must warn you that I'm no expert in this area, and I've only "briefly" owned a 45cm co-axial helicopter before, which I gave to my tom-boy domestic helper as a farewell gift. That was a HuanQi HQ853.
I decided that I still wanted to fly a helicopter and that the HQ853 was probably a little big for indoors (at home) - where I'm mostly at, if not out for work. The Avatar Z003, a.k.a. F103 Firewolf Micro-Helicopter was highly lauded for it's ease of control, stability, and agility - and I found it to be every bit as so.
Owing to its minute palm-size, it has no place where there is breeze or even drafts of wind. Your best bet is to fly it in an air-conditioned room. It's no surprise why micro radio controlled air crafts are keenly hawked in shopping malls these days.
Do check out my flight video, and I hope you enjoy it. As my controlling skills improve, I'll certainly be posting up more videos and a proper review of this.
Http://Hpisavagex46.wordpress.com. BSD Land Ripper 2 with 6.3" truck wheels, HPI Savage X looking dorky with 1/8 DIY drift wheels (road tyres taped over with electrical tape).
Land Ripper 2 showing off its (limited) suspension travel as it crawls over the "Savage X Drift". I should assume that the Redcat Earthquake 8E used axle extenders as this setup I did has very narrow track. I just ordered longer axles and axle extenders for the fun of it.
Still too narrow to be truggy, but not for long.
Mix-and-match frenzy... Bringing back the days of silly European bicycles with a large front wheel and a puny rear one.
I've been drifting the BSD Land Ripper, if you're wondering why it had those rear wheels.
This was a joke. I'm sure the Savage X would be pissed off with me if it had feelings.
Don't they look small from this view?
